Description

‘Truck Stop’ reflects Helmut Newton’s early years as a truck driver in the Australian army. It is one of few rare images that features this motif and directly relates back to his early years in Melbourne, providing an intimate insight into Newton’s personal fantasies. Expertly manipulating light, Newton transforms the model in an almost abstract conception of oil spilling out of the truck. Her powerful physique and wide posture is complimented by the industrial mass of the truck.

I hate good taste. It's the worst thing that can happen to a creative person.
